Thought I'd take a few minutes this morning to share this new project that I've started. I saw this Be Attitudes quilt by Nancy Halverson,
last summer and knew right away that I'd have to make it someday. I ordered a few copies of the book for the shop and decided to start on mine last week. I'm enjoying it very much! Another project to add to my pile. Hope to finish this one right away! lol
I hope you've all had a wonderful Christmas season and wish you all a happy and healthy New Year!
We are having quite the winter here and it's still fall! lol But I don't mind it at all as winter is my favourite season!
We were blessed last night to be able to enjoy a walk through the woods! Some of our cousins from my Dad's side of the family own a horse farm nearby and each year they host a candlelit walk along a 2 mile trail in the woods. At the end of the trail is an old sugar shack where our uncle used to make tons of maple syrup. They served hot chocolate and hot apple cider for us there alongside a beautiful bonfire!
It was a great night to appreciate God's beauty and have a little visit with family!
Busy, busy! Work, Christmas cantata, shopping, etc! You know all about it, I'm sure. Just wanted to check in to say hi and show you a couple of fun things. Gail, my right hand man at the shop, was busy this week, whipping up this little cutie that was in a previous issue of Primitive Quilt and Projects.
And I spent some quality quilting time over the weekend working up a few more of these babies. Almost done with these colours, then on to the dark blues!
If you live in this area, you might want to get in on this little bit of fun. I'm hosting Wooly Wednesdays at the shop on Wednesday mornings from 9:30 - 12:00noon. Kaaren from the Painted Quilt is going to be there each Wednesday morning to inspire and share her beautiful work. Approximately once a month, we'll have an original design ready to share with you in kit form. For those living out of this area, you could also get the kits by mail. We start Wednesday, Dec 11th. There is limited space for the workshops, so if you think you might want to join us, let me know. You can call the shop at 902-378-7845 or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
I'm a quilter, love everything about this great craft. I've been quilting since I was just a little girl, blessed to have both of my grandmothers influence and teaching to start me on my way. The first quilt that I remember working on was a Grandmother's Flower Garden. My maternal grandmother, Fanny, helped me get started, I was around 7 or 8 years old. I still have that work, never did finish the quilt though. My maternal grandmother, Dot, often had a quilt in the frame when I was a little girl. I spent many wonderful hours playing under that quilt frame, in my world of imagination. And I was so blessed as I grew a bit older to have her teach me the fine art of hand quilting. Today, I still love hand work, but also love the convenience of today's modern techniques.
I have been blessed beyond measure this past year to be able to open my own quilt shop, I've been dreaming of this for 20 years and finally decided now was the time to stop dreaming and start doing! I hope you'll follow along with me on the journey!
